Six Ways You Can Support Sexuality and Sexual Health Issues
For 40 years, SIECUS has been at the forefront of efforts to secure sexuality education, sexual healthcare, and reproductive rights. As supporters of these issues, you know that these are challenging times. However, there are a number of ways you can help.
To learn more about SIECUS' recent accomplishments, please see our 2007 Annual Report.
To gain an insider's view of SIECUS' program initiatives, direction, and challenges, please see our Winter/Spring 2008 issue of SIECUS Developments.
- DONATE to SIECUS-the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States. Supporting SIECUS is a wise investment in sexual and reproductive health education, information, and advocacy. Your donation will help SIECUS inform policymakers, train educators, educate parents, and speak out on critical sexual and reproductive health issues. Every donation brings us one step closer toward our goal of ensuring a sexually healthy world.
Please make your tax deductible gift now by credit card using our secure site or by calling the SIECUS Development Department at (212) 819-9770 to request a donation envelope.
Expand your support for SIECUS by asking your friends and family to make a donation in your honor to celebrate your birthday, anniversary, or the holidays. An acknowledgement will be sent to the donor, as well as to you informing you of the gift made in your honor. Please call the SIECUS Development Department at (212) 819-9770 for more information or to request that materials be sent to friends and family.
- ADVOCATE for sexual and reproductive health policies. SIECUS' public policy office, based in Washington, DC, advocates for proactive policies that support comprehensive sexuality education programs, access to reproductive and sexual health services, increased funding for HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people, and other related policies. We also work to prevent increased funding for damaging "abstinence-only-until-marriage" programs, ensure young people have access to critical sexual and reproductive health information, and protect a woman's right to choose abortion.

Just click on our Advocates Network Sign Up Page to receive policy updates, action alerts, and up-to-the-minute reports on sexual and reproductive health policies. - EDUCATE your friends, co-workers, family members, and neighbors about the critical sexual and reproductive health battles that threaten our choices, rights, and health. Most people don't think their right to access information or make personal sexual and reproductive health choices could be taken away. However, each and every day, in the halls of Congress and the courtrooms of America these rights are threatened. SIECUS, along with many of our colleagues, works to ensure that you and those you care about retain these rights. We offer a host of educational materials to help you inform the people who surround you about these threats and how SIECUS is working to ensure access to sexual and reproductive health information, rights, and healthcare services. You can download many of these materials from the SIECUS web site by visiting our Publications Section.
- LEARN more about sexual and reproductive health issues. SIECUS develops, researches, and publishes numerous resources on a host of sexual and reproductive health issues. These resources include information on the benefits of a comprehensive approach to sexuality education, the damaging effects of "abstinence-only-until-marriage" programs, how the federal government dismisses sound public health policy when increasing funding for unproven programs, and many other related issues. To learn more, visit our Publications Section, which includes SIECUS fact sheets, issues of the SIECUS Report, annotated bibliographies, right wing watch, controversy reports, and other resources and materials. SIECUS also offers our http://www.familiesaretalking.org web site, which has specialized materials, tools, and information to help families talk openly and honestly about sexuality, relationships, and decision making.
- SECURE the future of SIECUS by making a planned gift. While SIECUS has a long and distinguished history, funding for our sometimes controversial and overlooked issues is a great challenge. Planned gifts can include a bequest, listing SIECUS as a beneficiary in your will, or naming SIECUS as a beneficiary and owner of a life insurance policy. For more information, please call the SIECUS Development Department at (212) 819-9770.
- SHOP at Amazon.com, BenefitsAll.com, GreaterGood.com, iGive.com, Jewels4Charity.com, NeshomaNetwork.com, or list your auction items through ebay's MissionFish.org and a portion of the proceeds will support the programs of SIECUS. Shop for books, apparel, electronics, or anything else you may need and anywhere from 1% to 30% of the purchase price will be donated to SIECUS*.
- SEARCH ONLINE at GoodSearch.com. Search results are straight from Yahoo, but any time you click on an ad, SIECUS gets a percent of the profits.
* Percentage donated to SIECUS is determined by each merchant and will be based on the total purchase price, prior to shipping, handling, and applicable taxes.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
