Adolescence and Abstinence . This SIECUS fact sheet provides data on teenage sexual behavior that highlights the need for sexuality education.
But Does it Work? Improving Evaluations of Sexuality Education. This SIECUS report offers recommendations and resources to improve sexuality education evaluations. It is the result of a symposium of 15 of the nation's most prominent researchers. It includes the status of current evaluation research, methodologies to improve education programs, and help for program managers, evaluators, and funders.
Community Action Kit. This SIECUS kit is designed to help advocates of comprehensive sexuality education in communities across the nation. It includes strategies for organizing support, information for handouts, overheads, or posters, and reviews of curricula and related information.
Current Books on Sexuality. This SIECUS bibliography provides a list of b ooks on the topic of human sexuality. They encompass a wide range of concerns and issues ranging from sexuality education to censorship to sex research and beyond. This annotated bibliography represents a cross section of available materials.
Facing Facts. This SIECUS report is a guide to policy makers, health professionals, and parents to use when developing sound policies on adolescent health. It was developed by the National Commission on Adolescent Sexual Health and includes a consensus on characteristics of sexually healthy adolescents, and recommendations for developing policies.
Issues and Answers . This SIECUS fact sheet answers the most-often-asked questions about school-based sexuality education, including "What are its goals?" "Is it effective?" "Who supports it?"
Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual Adolescents . This SIECUS fact sheet provides information about sexual orientation during adolescence as well as statistics on gay, lesbian, and bisexual students and reviews of related school policies and practices.
Religion, Spirituality, and Sexuality . This SIECUS bibliography is designed to provide information that religious groups, spiritual leaders, parents, educators, and the general public can use to better understand the positive relationship between religion, sexuality, and spirituality. Included in this bibliography is an annotated list of curricula for religious settings.
Resources for Professionals. This SIECUS bibliography is designed to help professionals develop a core sexuality library. There are many publications that address sexuality issues. This list includes a select number of books that address both general and specific subject areas.
Sexuality and Underserved Youth in Communities of Color . This SIECUS Fact Sheet examines issues that affect the sexual development of underserved youth in communities of color designed for educators, health care providers, and policy makers.
Sexuality Education in the Home. This SIECUS bibliography is designed to provide parents and caregivers with resources they can use to talk to children about sexuality and prepare them for their adult lives. Parents are—and ought to be—their children's primary sexuality educators, but may need help and encouragement to fulfill this important role. Religious leaders, youth and community group leaders, and health and education professionals can complement and augment the sexuality education that takes place in the home.
Strategies To Build Support for HIV-Prevention and Sexuality Education Programs . This SIECUS fact sheet provides strategies used by educators and advocates nationwide.
Teaching our Teachers to Teach. This SIECUS analysis of teacher training for HIV/AIDS prevention programs and sexuality education instruction shows that many teachers are not adequately prepared. Based on a study of 169 institutions, it addresses three questions: "Do teacher certification programs offer courses to prepare teachers?" "Are courses required or elective?" " Are sexuality education programs comprehensive?"
Teen Pregnancy . This SIECUS fact sheet provides information on teenage pregnancy in the United States including statistics on pregnancy rates, unintended pregnancies, birthrates, abortion, and pregnancy risks and outcomes.
The Truth About Condoms. This SIECUS fact sheet provides questions and answers about the consistent and correct use of condoms.
