Advocates for
Youth

Advocates for Youth creates programs and promotes policies which help young
people make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual and
reproductive health. They provide information, training, and advocacy to
youth-serving organizations, policy-makers, and the media in the United States
and around the world.
Their Web site offers information on adolescent pregnancy prevention. They have also developed a Clearinghouse that researches, documents, and shares information on successful pregnancy prevention strategies, interventions, and initiatives throughout the country. The Clearinghouse fields requests from youth-serving professionals, community providers, policy-makers, the media, and students for pregnancy-related technical assistance and information.
Advocates for Youth has selected model programs that show promising results in delaying the onset of sexual intercourse, reducing the frequency of sexual intercourse, and/or increasing the use of contraceptives.
The Alan Guttmacher
Institute (AGI)

AGI’s mission is to protect the reproductive choices of women and men in the
United States and around the world. The organization provides information on
sexual behavior, reproduction, and family formation. AGI has published fact
sheets that provide statistics and other information on adolescent pregnancy.
ETR Associates

ETR Associates is a non-profit organization that provides leadership,
educational resources, training, and research in health promotion with an
emphasis on sexuality and health education. ETR offers information on resource
development, publishing, and distribution; research and evaluation; program
development and training; and clearinghouse services.
Their Web site provides information on reproductive health, high-risk sexual behavior, STD/HIV/AIDS prevention, and comprehensive school health. ETR’s Research Department conducts a wide range of qualitative and quantitative studies, including both local and statewide surveys of adolescent risk-taking and healthful behaviors. Their Training Department administers the Resource Center for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (ReCAPP), an online resource that provides practical tools and information to enable teachers and health educators to most effectively reduce teen sexual risk-taking behaviors.
Girls Incorporated

Girls Incorporated is national youth organization that provides
educational programs. They have developed research-based and informal
education programs that address pregnancy prevention and adolescent health.
The Web site provides information about the organization’s Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy program. This program goes beyond traditional sexuality education to focus on girls’ motivation to avoid early pregnancy.
Kaiser Family Foundation

The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation focuses on the major health care
issues that affect the nation. They provide resources, facts, and analysis for
policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the general public.
The Foundation has created an adolescent pregnancy fact sheet
to provide general information on adolescent pregnancy.
National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy aims to
prevent teen pregnancy by supporting values and stimulating actions consistent
with a pregnancy-free adolescence.
The Web site provides state-by-state statistics on adolescent pregnancy, campaign updates, an online newsletter, resources, and publications. The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy has also developed a teen section which also includes weekly messages from teens that provide, surveys, facts, figures, and important teen tips.
National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association

NFPRHA is a non-profit membership organization which assures
access to voluntary, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive family planning
and reproductive health care services.
Their Web site offers information on legislative affairs, fact sheets on family planning, articles on reproductive health, monthly facts on reproductive health, reports, publications, and links to related sites.
Healthy Teen Network (formerly NOAPPP)

Healthy Teen Network provides leadership, education, training, information,
and advocacy resources to practitioners in the field of adolescent pregnancy,
parenting, and prevention.
Their Web site offers education and technical assistance, an online newsletter, research on first-time adolescent pregnancy, a directory of coalitions, advocacy, and ongoing initiatives in collaboration with other organizations. In addition, the Web site provides information on upcoming conferences, publications, resources, and links to related sites.
National School Boards Association

NSBA is a nonprofit federation that represents school boards
across the country. NSBA’S HIV/AIDS and School Health Programs
provide technical assistance designed to foster school board members’
awareness of teen pregnancy and school health issues and to motivate them to
support effective and appropriate teen pregnancy policies and programs. The
programs include a School Health Resource Database that contains
materials on policy development, confidentiality, school staff training,
community support, and program evaluations and curricula. Selections from this
database as well as more related information are available online.
National Education Association
(NEA)

Network (HIN)

The Health Information Network (HIN) is a non-profit affiliate
of the National Education Association. HIN provides NEA members with
information and training geared toward developing health-enhancing behaviors,
reducing health risks, and promoting a safe and healthy environment. HIN has
developed programs designed to help school personnel address unintended
pregnancy, HIV,
and sexual health in their
roles as educators and as employees.
The Web site includes information on these programs as well other HIN such as a newsletter and a video for teens on contraceptive choice.
National Association of State Boards of Education
(NASBE)

NASBE represents state and territorial education boards and
provides trainings, conferences, and resource materials. NASBE’s School-Based
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, a new addition to the Healthy
Schools Project, provides an
opportunity for members to participate in discussions on effective strategies
to reduce adolescent pregnancy. NASBE provides policy updates
and issue briefs on teen
pregnancy prevention along with current research
on effective school-based programs.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Planned Parenthood supports a range of activities designed to
reduce adolescent pregnancy and childbearing. They include expanded sexuality
education, increased service accessibility, enhanced public awareness,
behavioral research, and the development of contraceptive methods suited to
adolescents. Planned Parenthood has created a number of fact sheets which
provide up-to-date information on adolescent sexual activity, pregnancy, and
childbearing.
Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United
States (SIECUS)

SIECUS is a 40 year old nonprofit organization that believes that
sexuality is a natural and healthy part of life and that all people have the
right to the information, skills, and services they need to make responsible
sexual choices. SIECUS provides health care professionals and educators as
well as parents with the most reliable information on sexuality. SIECUS’ School
Health Project provides state and local education agencies with the best
training and resources on HIV/AIDS prevention as well as sexuality education.
As part of this project SIECUS publishes SHOP
Talk, a biweekly fax and electronic newsletter that focuses on HIV
prevention issues in school age youth. SIECUS’ Mary S.
Calderone Library is the largest sexuality education clearinghouse in the
country open to the public for on-site and electronic research and assistance.
The Library also houses the National School Health Education Clearinghouse
which provides information on model programs and policies, curricula and
curricula evaluations, guidelines for HIV/STD prevention and sexuality
education, teacher training and preparation information, and other school

Sociometrics Corporation is a research and development firm
specializing in social science research applications. Sociometrics' research
focuses on a variety of contemporary social issues including teenage
pregnancy and parenthood, AIDS, and other
sexually
transmitted diseases.
Sociometrics’ Web site provides materials to facilitate the implementation and evaluation of pregnancy-prevention programs. Each of Sociometrics’ programs are archived by the Program Archive on Sexuality, Health and Adolescence (PASHA), which is a collection of pregnancy and STD/HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Sociometrics also provides a Data Archive on Adolescent Pregnancy and Pregnancy Prevention (DAAPPP) established by the U.S. Office of Population Affairs (OPA). DAAPPP has data from over 130 studies on sexuality, health, and adolescence.
