Working Toward Coordinated School Health Programs

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Adolescent School Health (DASH) works with many national organizations, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the occupied territories, and many local organizations to help promote coordinated school health programs.

The CDC funds states to provide youth with information and skills needed to avoid risk behaviors and to teach students decision-making, communication, and peer-resistance skills. (For more information on the CDC -DASH programs, visit http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dash/ataglanc.htm

In addition, The CDC funds many national organizations, including SIECUS, who are working to strengthen schools’ ability to assist state and local organizations to provide HIV prevention within coordinated school health programs.  The following is a complete list of funded organizations (for fiscal year 1999).
