Today most health risks have their roots in social or behavioral conditions. The CDC has identified six preventable behaviors that account for most of the serious illnesses and premature deaths in the United States.
Tobacco use
Poor eating habits
Abuse of alcohol and other drugs
Behaviors that result in intentional or unintentional injury
Physical inactivity
Sexual behaviors that result in HIV infection, other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), or unintended pregnancy
