  1. Opt-in and opt-out policies are same for sexuality education and STD/HIV/AIDS education unless otherwise noted.
  2. “Review board” refers to a board on the local, not state, level.
  3. Applies to sexuality education classes only.
  4. Opt-out unless school receives state funds for sexuality education in which case the school is required to have an opt-in policy.
  5. Mandated for human growth and development, disease prevention, and AIDS education.
  6. Mandated for HIV/AIDS education.
  7. An opt-in policy is recommended by the Kansas Health Education Standards but school districts are not mandated to do this.
  8. Sexuality and HIV/AIDS education prohibited until sixth grade, except in Orleans Parish where it is allowed beginning in third.
