October is National Family Sexuality Education Month (NFSEM), also known as Let's Talk Month.
Since 1975, a national coalition of more than 50 organizations has promoted family communication about sexuality by participating in NFSEM. This observance is designed to encourage parents and caregivers to talk with their children about sexuality. CONFERENCES

The 2005 Teen Pregnancy Prevention Conference, Teen Pregnancy and Poverty: The Power of Prevention , is scheduled for October 25-26, 2005 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in University Park , Pennsylvania . The intensive two-day workshop is for professionals committed to teen pregnancy prevention including educators, social service providers, health care professionals, counselors, legislators, and researchers. The Great Lakes Institute for Community Health Education ( GLICHE) is an intensive five day residential conference for professionals working in adolescent reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, community health, school classrooms, GLBT, sexuality and family planning education. Participants will have the opportunity to develop skills in working with and promoting adolescent reproductive health; practice skills developing and conducting educational sessions; learn innovative methods and techniques in education program development and evaluation; receive and provide peer feedback; complete a self-assessment of skills, knowledge, and attitudes as an educator; and determine how the information presented is relevant and useful through an interactive format.
