October is National Family Sexuality Education Month (NFSEM)
Since 1975, a national coalition of more than 50 organizations has promoted family communication about sexuality by participating in NFSEM. This observance is designed to encourage parents and caregivers to talk with their children about sexuality. Setting Limits to Prevent HIV, STD and Pregnancy

This curricula promotes abstinence by providing students with the knowledge and skills to prevent STDs, HIV, and pregnancy. It consists of three manuals-Grade 6 (5 lessons), Grade 7 (7 lessons), and Grade 8 (7 lessons). Grade 6 features limits setting and refusal skills in a nonsexual context; Grade 7 examines consequences of unplanned sex, including STD, and teaches refusal skills in party situations; and Grade 8 features practice of refusal skills in dating situations and covers basic information about condoms. Results from this evaluated curriculum are included. Activities and worksheets are available in English and Spanish.

Preventing Teen Pregnancy

What Your Mother Never Told You About Sex

This book for women offers information on sexuality and sexual health. It is divided into five parts beginning with the section "Body Parts" that discusses female and male sexual anatomy. Part Two, "Sensational Sex," discusses topics such as kissing, touch, and sexual enhancers. Part Three, "Taking Care of Yourself," covers topics on keeping in shape, birth control, and safer sex. Part Four, "Sex for Life," discusses sex during pregnancy, middle and later life sexuality, and talking with your daughter about sexuality. Part Five, "When Sex Isn't Great," covers a wide variety of medical problems and psychological and emotional issues related to sex.
