October is National Family Sexuality Education Month (NFSEM)
Since 1975, a national coalition of more than 50 organizations has promoted family communication about sexuality by participating in NFSEM. This observance is designed to encourage parents and caregivers to talk with their children about sexuality. EveryBody: Preventing HIV and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases Among Young Teens
Revised Edition: Deborah Schoberlein
This is an abstinence-based program that promotes risk elimination as the safest way to prevent HIV/STD infections. It also endorses risk reduction as an important component of HIV/STD-prevention strategies. Developmentally appropriate and research-based, it engages youth in grades five through nine in active learning. This revised edition contains six chapters with up-to-date information on HIV, STDs, and other related topics. It also contains 24 sequential student-centered activities with guiding questions, step-by-step directions, assessment measures, and lesson extensions.
