Last week, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI-1), confirmed that Republican leadership will seek to defund and shut down Planned Parenthood health centers through the Affordable Care Act repeal efforts, which will progress even before the inauguration of President-elect Trump on January 20, 2017.
SIECUS stands with Planned Parenthood and the millions of women, men, and young people who rely on the judgment-free, high-quality education, and health care they provide.
For over a century, Planned Parenthood has been a trusted provider of essential preventive health services, providing lifesaving cancer screenings, well-woman exams, birth control, STD testing and treatment to more than 2.5 million Americans each year.
That’s why SIECUS is proud to proclaim #IStandWithPP.
Under the guise of "defunding" Planned Parenthood, Congress is threatening to take provider choice and access away from the millions of people—often people of color, those living in rural communities, and low-income, under-insured, or uninsured people—already facing systemic barriers in accessing health care. SIECUS believes every person has the right to access quality, affordable health care and services. This attack on Planned Parenthood is an attack on those most vulnerable in our society, creating further barriers in getting the health care they need.
Join us in solidarity. Tell Congress you stand with Planned Parenthood.
